A Sonoma County builder, James Hosler spends most of his free time rock climbing and mountaineering in California's Sierra Nevadas, capturing amazing images along the way. "Other mountain ranges around the world have intrigued my eye, but the Sierras have a unique quality of light that I have always appreciated." James has been honing his photographic style for over ten years, being influenced by the artistic legacy of Galen Rowel and Ansel Adams. Climbing, his more recent obsession, has opened a new door into his photographic career by appealing to his philosophy of capturing intense moments. "Releasing the shutter lets me capture a moment that will otherwise be lost forever. The moment can consist of anything from a lenticular cloud lit by alpenglow, to a climber in the moment of an endorphin rush."
